Dr Dan Forman
Honorary President

Dan is a reseacher, lecturer and tutor at Swansea University in the Institute of Environmental Sustainability. He is essentially interested in how animals utilise the environment around them and the many ways in which environmental or social factors influence individual foraging and reproductive decisions. Much of this research is focused on mustelid (e.g. otter, polecat and American mink), rodent (e.g. water vole) and bird (e.g. moorhen, coot and tree sparrow) species as study organisms. Dan is the head of the Conservation Ecology Research Team at Swansea University (CERTS).

Peter Hill
Conservation Officer and Vice-Chair

Our man on the ground. Peter grew up on the southern heaths and has been passionate about our native herpetofauna since childhood. Having lived in south Wales for the past few years Peter has identified a desperate need to raise awareness regarding reptiles & amphibians, and protect & preserve their habitat. When he isn't out looking for native herpetofauna, Peter works as as a Development Officer for BTCV Cymru. Peter holds a current CCW/HCT licence to work with all protected herpetofauna species in Wales.

Mark Barber BSc Hons

Mark has held a deep seeded interest in the natural world all of his life, in particularly herpetofauna. He graduated from Swansea University with a zoology degree a few years back and has recently started a research masters on grass snakes with CERTS, hence he spends most of his life in the field.

Chaela Carrell
Secretary

Involved with conservation at all levels, Chaela has a broad knowledge of British Wildlife and as well as being the group secretary is very much a hands on and proactive naturalist. Chaela is currently employed as a Community Wildlife Officer for the Bio Diversity Unit of the local Authority.

Jessica Lloyd

Jessica has lived most of her life in West Glamorgan. A dyed in the wool naturalist, Jessica brings her much valued organizational skills to the group. Jessica is also currently involved with small mammal studies & surveys elsewhere in South Wales and is a regular and enthusiastic conservation volunteer. Jessica is also a field researcher for CERTs.

Stephen Lowe
Vale of Glamorgan & Bridgend Officer

Stephen has a general interest in wildlife and started surveying ponds in the Vale in 2003 to help provide more info on the distribution of amphibians in the county. He is also involved in practical conservation work like pond restorations, advice to community councils and working with parks & highways depts in Vale to improve habitat for amphibians. In 2006 he helped establish Bridgend & Vale Amphibian & Reptile group (2007/8 they all left the area-was it something I said!) which amalgamated with WGARG in Autumn 2008 forming SWWARG as we know it.

Emma Douglas
Gower Officer & Recorder

As a lifelong Gower resident Emma brings local knowledge and a broad understanding of wildlife and conservation to her role as Gower Officer.   Emma is a postgraduate student at Swansea University currently studying the distribution and ecology of the brown hare on the Gower Peninsula as part of an M.Phil. She is also a field researcher with Conservation Ecology Research Team Swansea (CERTS), involved with small mammal studies amongst other projects. Emma is currently mapping ponds on Gower, and identifying ideal locations for new ponds to address colony connectivity.
